Step 1: Figure Out What's Your Point
 
This first step is important because it'll determine how to find the right people to contact in Step 2
 
So what is the reason you're contacting a legislator? Are you wanting to ask if they support an adult adoptee's right to access their own original birth certificate? Is there a specific bill that relates to adoptee rights that's going to have a hearing or a vote? Do you want to set up a meeting with the legislator to discuss adoptee rights in Washington State?

After you figure out what your point is for making contact with the legislator, you're ready for Step 2: Find the right legislator to contact.
